Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year. There are many reasons to love this season: the leaves turning, beautiful pumpkins and mums, cool weather, Halloween costumes, the cozy feel of the fire, a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate. Despite the steady rise in alternative energy sources like solar and wind, the U.S. is still mainly powered by fossil fuels like petroleum, natural gas, and coal. What’s more, the average American family uses around 300 gallons of water per day, but so much of this is wasted—resulting in nearly 1 trillion gallons of water wasted annually.
