On August 29 from 3-5pm, the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce Women in Business hosted its Annual Tea with historian, economist and author, John Browne. Ladies flaunted their best tea dresses and hats as they enjoyed tea, light bites and desserts. Prizes were awarded to the most creative hats and fascinators!
A former Conservative Member of Parliament, Browne was a Vice President of the UK Independence Party that triggered and won Brexit. He retired as a Major in the Grenadier Guards, having served as a pilot and a parachutist. On public duties, he had responsibility for the pallbearers at the State Funeral of Sir Winston Churchill. He has a Master of Science from Cranfield Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard. Browne is interviewed regularly on TV about political, economic and financial matters.
After graduation from Harvard, Browne spent time as a somewhat unskilled cowboy on a working ranch in Wyoming. Subsequently, he joined Morgan Stanley as an investment banker in New York. In London, with the European Banking Company, he became Director of Middle East Operations.
In Parliament, Browne was made the Personal Liaison to Mr. Gorbachev on his first official visit to the West. He predicted Gorbachev would become Soviet Leader. Briefed by Browne, Margaret Thatcher made her seminal statement: “I think I can do business with this man.”
Browne has lectured in many parts of the world, including: the Kremlin in Moscow, Hong Kong, South Korea and Switzerland. He predicted both the “YES!” Brexit vote and, in July 2015, the Trump presidency.
Browne currently is a Partner of Frazier, Browne and Mayer LLC (an independent economic and financial research company), a Realtor at Illustrated Properties (specializing in luxury properties) and author of “Hidden Account of the Romanovs.”
As far as Royal knowledge is concerned, he attended the Constitutional Committee and played polo in the Windsor Park team with Prince Philip and Prince Charles.
By the way…I understand he has danced on occasion with the Queen.
